3 Questions For Charlie Amsler

Why should clients come to you instead of one of the larger agencies?

As the smallest firm in town, we provide more personal attention. Nobody’s just another client. And I really believe that, thanks to my building experience, we’re more knowledgeable than the others.

What kind of special knowledge do you have?

For example, I’ve been working with the assessor’s offices in the town halls for years. When there’s a potential problem, I really delve into it for a client. Instead of having to hire a lawyer, I can usually solve the problem more quickly – and less expensively.

Most real estate people can find the address, but most real estate people don't really know a thing about how a structure is built. I do know how to build and I can obtain the answers for many structural issues. When it comes to figuring out the implications of various town laws, I have good working relationships with the health agent and building inspector.

Here’s another example – when you buy a property within the boundaries of the National Seashore, you need a special certificate in some cases. I’ve done half a dozen projects in the National Seashore. I know who to talk to. I can take the plans and meet with the right people at the Conservation Board, the Board of Health, the Zoning Board, whatever.

Why should a seller list with Amsler Real Estate?

Because we are small, sellers get the same personalized attention and support as buyers; that’s especially important for non-local sellers. We do have a high visibility location right on Route 6. And thanks to my background in building, I can advise on necessary repairs and suggest how to spruce up a property to make that critical good first impression.
